Veterinary care has become very sophisticated in recent years. Our facilities and treatments are not far behind what you would expect for yourself at your local hospital. There is also a network of registered specialists available for more complicated problems. Unfortunately higher standards of care mean that the cost of veterinary treatment has increased and will continue to increase.
We recommend considering pet insurance because it allows you to make decisions about your pet’s care without having financial concerns about a particular treatment option.
There are several companies that offer pet insurance. As with any insurance it is worth shopping around and reading the fine print. We are unable to give any specific advice, or recommendations regarding pet insurance. You should choose the policy that best suits you and your situation.
At Vetcall we are able to offer you 6 weeks of free health cover if your puppy or kitten is aged between 6 and 20 weeks through Southern Cross Pet Insurance.
Alternatively, Petcover offer a 4 week free no policy for puppies and kittens aged between eight weeks and twelve months of age. If you would like to take advantage of this 'Four Week Free Policy' we will need to complete a health check on your pet, and then you can apply for cover within a 24 hour period.
Information brochures and application forms can be found in our waiting room.
An alternative to pet insurance is setting up a savings account for your pet to cover expenses like flea treatment, worming, vaccinations, food and unexpected health problems.
